Prerequisite: Experience with computers
If your child thinks that playing computer games is fun, think what a blast it will be learning to program his/her own games. Students will use the game elements such as the player, enemies, bonuses, levels, lives, and program object movements to creatively design their own customized functional arcade-style game from ground up. Students will have fun and gain a sense of accomplishment. They will also learn about programming logic such as repeat loops, conditional statements, and variables.
Students take home a CD with the GameMaker software, resource files and students’ games at the end of class.
