Camp Sessions

Session 1: July 1-3 (no camp July 4-5)
Code: 1EF

Wild Woodlands

Campers will come join us to kick off the summer with a wonderful week in Connecticut’s woods!  We’ll go on a variety of flora and fauna finding hikes, all while learning about trail mapping, orienteering, and wilderness survival. With their self-made and customized naturalist guides in hand, campers will get to develop their observational and detective skills to find and catalogue a variety of animals in our stream, pond, and woodland habitats.

Session 2: July 8-12
Code: 2EF

Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead II

Our popular science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics week is returning for a second year!  We’ll explore new themes, including reverse engineering, forensic science, the physics of sound, make a variety of DIY crafts, and much more.  Campers will get to finish off the week with competing in our three-story high egg drop challenge!

Session 3: July 15-19
Code: 3EF

Eco Superheroes!

Often overlooked, we frequently take for granted the job that both human and nature recyclers do to keep our homes and environments clean.  This week, we’ll celebrate their work by making upcycled art & musical instruments, going on decomposer digs, scavenger hunts, racing in a miniature recycled boat regatta, having hissing cockroach races, and more!

Session 4: July 22-26
Code: 4EF

The Great Animal Adventure

Animals from near and far have made the Stamford Museum their home.  This week, campers will get to work with some of their favorite animal friends in Heckscher Wild! by learning their habits, habitats, and diets.  Connecticut’s own animals will also play a central role as we explore our native species and what makes them special.  To cap off the week, we’ll have our expert campers hold our annual presentation on their animals for families!

Session 5: July 29-August 2
Code: 5EF

Environmental Engineers

Our second S.T.E.A.M. focused week, Environmental Engineers will have our campers explore the natural aspects of both physical and life sciences. We’ll do a variety of activities including micro-scale bridge building, light up our night sky in our planetarium, and meet several of our true animal ecosystem engineers who build up and alter the world around them.  Campers will get to show off what they’ve learned with this week’s several fort-building excursions!

Session 6: August 5-9
Code: 6EF

Farmer Frenzy!

No summer session would be complete without the help of our Heckscher farmers!  This week, campers will help the Heckscher farm staff with feeding & cleaning our farm animals, all while learning about our fuzzy friends who call the farm home.  We’ll also learn about the fibers and milk that some animals provide, taste some foods produced at Heckscher farm, and celebrate the end of summer camp with our famous camper-run pizza party!
