Mandarin Discovery Preschool is an immersion, cerative program for children 2 years to 5 years old.  We also have Mandarin Chinese culture class for 1st grade through 5th grade.  We teach intensive pronunciation 'PiYin' and reading, learn Chinese traditional simplified 'MaoBi' writing (Calligraphy).  Stories from Chinese culture; arts and crafts using Chinese zodiac animals, we also learn with musical instruments & Mandarin songs maximizes enjoyment.   We welcome you to join our Chinese community and help your children have a bright future! We also offer private tutor, translation and homework helper.

Typical class schedule

 

For Preschoolers

The class is from 9:30am-12:30pm

 

9:30am-10:00am: Wash hands, Free play time with Chinese music in background.  Teacher will teach toys’ names in Chinese.

10:00am-10:30am: Circle time: Start with ‘Good Morning’ song and color song with the instruments, learn the numbers, the days of the week.  Review the topics from previous classes as need it.   Introduce the topic of the day, read books and sing songs that related to the topic.

10:30am-11:00am:  Art and crafts for the topic of the day in groups. “Beginner”, “Intermediate”, and “Advanced”. 

11:00am-11:15am: Break for snack.

11:15am-11:35am: Using physical activities to learn Mandarin.

11:40am-11:50am: Conversation and Pronunciation “PiYin” Practice (work in groups) “Five vocabulary & Two sentences”.

11:50am-12:10pm: Chinese culture time: 1) A story of Chinese Zodiac book. 2)Art and Craft: Make the day of the Zodiac.

12:10am-12:20pm: “Mao Bi” Practice.

12:20pm-12:25pm: Game time.

12:25pm-12:30pm: Review the books and songs that related to the topic of the day.  Sing “Goodbye” song and Clean up

* Notes: Students cannot share their snacks.

This rule exists to protect the students from potential allergies to   various foods.

 

For Chinese Cultural Class

1st grade-5th grade

The class is from 3:30pm-5:30pm

 

3:30pm-4:00pm: Start with ‘Good afternoon’ song, color song with the instruments.  Teach the routine vocabulary such as the days of the week, dates, weathers and numbers.  ‘PinYin’ practice with the flash cards.  (Work in groups with different levels), “Five vocabulary & five sentences”

4:00pm-4:30pm: Introduce the topic of the day.  Read books and sing songs that related to the topic.  Art and crafts for the topic of the day in groups. “Beginner”, “Intermediate”, and “Advanced”. 

4:30pm-4:40pm:  A break

4:40pm-5:00pm: Chinese culture time: Chinese culture time: 1) A story of Chinese Zodiac book. 2)Art and Craft: Make the day of the Zodiac.

5:00pm-5:20pm: Learn ‘Mao Bi’ and practice reading and writing Chinese characters.  (Work in groups with different levels)

5:20pm-5:30pm: Review the books and songs that related to the topic of the day.   Give the homework to the students (As parents ask for it).  Sing ‘Goodbye’ song with the instrument, clean up.
