Hudson Highlands Nature Museum presents - Hike-a-Thon 2021

After 14 years, we’ve reimagined the Hike-a-Thon as a two day event featuring 6 hikes led by Nature Museum Naturalists. There’s something for everybody —from the smallest hikers to the most seasoned! This important fundraiser will support nature education and play for children at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum. Want to come along? Below you can register for the hike, start or join a team, find a friend’s team, or make a donation!- Registration opens April 1, 2021.

  • Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd

  • Hikes are offered at 9am, 11am, and 1pm- see details below!

  • Pre-registration is required — $10 per person ages 3 and up. Children 2 and under are free but require a “lap ticket” (available at registration)

  • All tours, will take place at the Outdoor Discovery Center, except for the *Hearty Hike on Saturday 5/1 at the Wildlife Education Center

  • Hike spaces are limited. Masks are required at all times indoors and when interacting with Nature Museum Staff

SATURDAY, MAY 1ST HIKE SCHEDULE:

  • 9am- Hike & Play: Led by a Nature Educator, this family friendly hike is perfect for little ones! As you walk through the woods, you’ll make stops at some of the Young Naturalist Preschooler’s favorite Nature Play spots

  • 11am- Field & Forest Ramble: A Nature Museum Naturalist will lead an interpretive hike that focuses on what you’ll see on the trail that day. Get you better aquatinted with the world around you, and learn what plants and animals are active in early May in the Hudson Valley  

  • 1pm Hearty Hike: Join us for a guided hike to Round Top on the Nat Stillman Trail with breathtaking views of Cornwall and the Hudson Valley. *This is the only hike to take place at the Wildlife Education Center 

SUNDAY, MAY 2ND HIKE SCHEDULE:

  • 9am- Hike & Play: Led by a Nature Educator this family friendly hike is perfect for little ones! As you walk through the woods, you’ll make stops at some of the Young Naturalist Preschooler’s favorite Nature Play spots

  • 1pm Hearty Hike: Join us for a guided hike on the McKeon Loop Trail. This 2.2 mile hike connect the Outdoor Discovery Center to our neighbors at Black Rock Forest. This moderately strenuous hike will take you through a beautiful deciduous forest and includes two wonderful views of the Hudson River
