This program inspires young people to “exercise their eye” with the camera.
In this 8-week introductory class, students will plan, analyze and design compositions of photographs. Students will learn techniques that will enable them to capture the essence of the person, object, or environment they are photographing. They will learn how to use a DSLR camera and techniques that will enable them to use the camera to tell their story.
Participants will learn basic photography principles they can apply to any camera, including their phones, explore different lenses, take portraits of each other, and invite community members to the studio as models. This project will culminate in an exhibit.
This program is in partnership with ENUBuilds, Inc., supported by the 2022 Community Arts Residency grant from The Pocantico Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
Cameras are provided through the SONY Create Action Grant. CREATE ACTION‘s mission is to amplify local organizations’ efforts through funding, storytelling, and collaboration with Sony.
