Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), which is a severe neurological speech disorder that affects a child's ability to clearly and correctly produce sounds, syllables, and words. A child with apraxia knows what they want to say, when they attempt to speak, they have difficulty coordinating their muscles and motor planning the necessary movement needed for speech. This makes it very difficult, and sometimes impossible, for a child with apraxia to speak. Apraxia Kids is the only national nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to children with apraxia of speech and their families.
The 2018 Westchester Walk for Apraxia is a celebration of the Apraxia stars in the tristate area, whom will be recognized individually and receive medals at the opening award ceremony to acknowledge all their hard work to finding their voices. At the walk, relatives, friends, neighbors, therapists, teachers, co-workers, and community members will surround them, cheer them on, and create a web of support.
Those interested in walking or sponsoring the event can register on the walk website at http://community.apraxia-
