As students grow, they are ready to tackle more sophisticated work and to manage a more intensive schedule. The Young Actors’ Ensemble is a big step on the PGT actor’s creative journey, as they begin to focus more intensely on the craft. This program is designed to provide the professional tools and skills every performer needs to continue their artistic process.

Young Actors Ensemble

Students in the Young Actors’ Ensemble participate in three different classes each day. Each class is an opportunity to explore new ideas and foster their growing skills in the performing arts. The students will see a variety of teaching artists each day and throughout the week. Classes include Acting, Dance, Voice and Diction, Stage Combat, Masks, Yoga, Improvisation, Accents and Dialects, Monologues, and more.

The Young Actors’ Ensemble is a complete immersion into the world of theatre. Members of the Ensemble are asked to take creative risks in each class and rehearsal, and to support one another through the artistic process. The result is a non-competitive environment, where each student flourishes, both individually and as a member of the artistic ensemble.

All actors in the 3 week YAE will be cast in an ensemble based musical. These shows are often montage in style — songs, monologues, poems, scenes and dance pieces centered on a theme and with a powerful message. Students in this program will do some basic writing exercises, contributing their ideas to the overall concept of the show. Shows are chosen or created based on the number of students and their ages, with an eye toward what will both challenge and inspire the artistic abilities of each cast.

Students who enroll for 6 weeks have the option of participating in two 3-week StudioStage programs or auditioning for our Summer MainStage show.
