Professor Harold Hill arrives in River City, IA in 1912 to organize a “boy’s marching band” complete with instruments, uniforms and musical instruction! He meets Marion Paroo, the Librarian who is very skeptical of this shady salesman and rightly so! Along with the citizens of the town that include the Mayor and his wife, the barbershop singing school board, the ladies of the town and the teens and children, Prof. Hill convinces them of his musicianship and what ensues is both entertaining and provides a good learning lesson.
