Anatomical Drawing Techniques with a Live Model
For Adult Students 18 yrs + Intermediate Teens 13- 17 yrs
Life drawing is all about observation and our understanding of what we are looking at and more importantly- the way we see it. Some of us may focus on skin, the folds or texture and others may see more the contours of the body, the bones and skeletal proportions. Our goal for this class is to bring all these elements together to start to make sense of what we are looking at. In this class we will strive to achieve perfect proportion and line to help us understand human anatomy- working from a live model will help students achieve a more realistic feel and spontaneous approach to our subject. Learn how to apply essential anatomical principles: for example if we look at the head in relation to the size of the body, where the arms end in relation to a pelvic bone, through a series of exercises and adding vertical lines to measure proportion- and with practice, this understanding will become second nature to us. We will also look at unusual angles, like foreshortening and action poses to bring more energy to our drawings, as well as separating body parts to work on in detail. In this class we will work in pencil , charcoal and inks on paper. All Drawing Materials are included in the course fee.
Please note this class is offered for adults and intermediate teens ages 13 yrs and above.
