Essentials of Traditional Animation

*The event has already taken place on this date: Tue, 12/06/2016
Have you ever wondered how to create moving images with nothing but your drawings? Jump in and get started with this class!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Students will learn what it takes to create traditional hand drawn animations using a photoshop plugin called AnimDessin2, available for free through Adobe’s app store. Students will begin with the simple bouncing ball, to stick figures and finally onto a final project where they can add as much detail as they like.

Animation is a difficult subject and traditional animation is no exception. To make the process easier and to ensure students not trained in the traditional arts are not excluded, this class is kept simple in its approach. The objects drawn in the class are simple to ensure students focus on timing and spacing, good storytelling and gain an understanding of animation principles and a project workflow. Students are encouraged to bring in sketchbooks as we may take a break to practice drawing if the class desires and to discuss traditional art as it is crucial to this practice. Please note that sketchbooks are entirely optional.

Enroll in a single session for 6 weeks, or the full semester for 12 weeks!
