Discover what lies beneath the surface of fear in this spine-chilling exploration of the horror genre. Each week focuses on a different subgenre: the biting elevated horror and social commentary of Get Out, the groundbreaking DIY aesthetic of found footage in The Blair Witch Project, the aesthetics of slasher classics and auteur cinema in Psycho, and the eerie nostalgia of analog horror in the double feature of The Backrooms (Found Footage) and I Saw the TV Glow. Through screenings and discussions, students will unravel how horror reflects societal anxieties while pushing the boundaries of cinematic storytelling.
