In this camp, we discover how to use our senses to become highly aware of the birds, animals, trees and earth around us, through training in the native skills of the Ancient Scouts. We learn to track animals, make fires with the hand drill and bow and drill methods, build a portable survival kit, make invisible shelters and how to disappear in a moment's notice.
Woven between the activities is the philosophy of being a leader, a protector and a caretaker of the Earth, which is shared through stories and 'councils' where each person can share and be heard by everyone in our 'tribe'. Herbal first aid, lost proofing, navigation and more is shared in this powerful week to inspire and give skills that last a lifetime.
Campers sleep in hand made timber framed cabins in our comfortable wilderness camp, share hearty, healthy, home cooked meals and work in small groups with experienced staff to insure quality instruction and positive results with their skills and crafts. We aim for a transformative, powerful experience that will literally change the way your kids see the woods and themselves, through developing REAL skills and leadership.
We are located in Cherry Valley, NY near Cooperstown, in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Established in 1989.
