IN-PERSON Acrylic Painting for Beginners ( Adults)

Designed for beginners, this full class course lays the foundation required for success with the acrylic medium & a great kick-off point for painting in general. In this relaxing class, dive into the wonderful world of acrylic paint & devise gorgeous unique pieces. Learn the skill of color mixing, color theory, texture & application. Learn how to use color and brush techniques to create light and form in your compositions. We will explore different brush applications to give pieces that unique feel, or use painting knives for more textured observations. Students are invited to bring their own personal subject matter to work from to give their pieces a more authentic feel. This could be pictures, photos of people you love, an object that is dear to you (for a still life study). Abstract work and/ or realism will be examined and how to personally express yourself through the medium of paint with fun tips the pros use! This class is fun and educational & a pleasant way to spend a winter’s afternoon and create finished pieces to bring home, give as gifts and admire your own progress!

ART SUPPLIES

• Most materials are provided, paint, the use of brushes, however we do NOT supply CANVAS.

• Please purchase your own canvas prior to your class start date. We recommend a medium size canvas to start. Keep in mind, you may need multiple canvas during a full class course.

• Specialty materials like glazes or finishing mediums are NOT supplied. If you require these materials please bring them with you to class.

• We recommend Amazon & Blick Art Supplies for all your needs & some cool deals!

• We do have select canvas available for purchase at our studio starting at $35 & upwards, cash on delivery ( sorry NO IOUS! ) Please note we may not have the size canvas you require, so if you require an extra large canvas or a specific or unusual size, please bring it with you to class.

• Feel free to bring any personal subject matter with you to class that you find inspiring this might include photos of places, people, colors, textures, fabric, cardboard, wool, papers etc. Found object art can be included in your abstract art adventure, so these could be recycled things you have in your own home.Let your imagination run free..

PLEASE NOTE While we do offer individual class sign up options in this course, it is primarily for those with tricky schedules or those who want to choose their own calendar dates. We strongly encourage everyone to sign up for a full class course. It is the only way to learn skills and experience the process. Please note if you are signing up for one individual class, this will only serve as a taster session, so please manage your expectations, you may not finish your project in one sitting, please be patient, art takes time.

PLEASE NOTE: During the ongoing crisis, all students attending any in-person class must adhere to CDC & NY Safety guidelines.

• It is mandatory to wear a mask that covers your nose & mouth immediately upon entering our studio and at all times during your session.

• Social distance must be maintained at all times during your sessions with the recommendation of six feet apart by NY state

• At this time we ask that any drop off or pick ups are kept to a minimum of one. Any person picking up or dropping off must also wear a mask if they enter our studio.

• We ask that students do not bring any non-essential items to the studio at this time, extra clothes, etc.

• Please do not share drinks, snacks or food with any other students or staff

• For anyone who is not comfortable with adhering to these guidelines or keeping to our policies we suggest choosing an online session instead. We offer online programming 7 days a week.
