See an inventive Tony Award winning musical performed by BTC’s Award-Winning Senior Ensemble, an invite-only performance program for High Schoolers. Charles Dickens died while writing his final novel, leaving behind not a clue of how to solve The Mystery of Edwin Drood. A play within a play, this hilarious and high-spirited show has the audience choose the ending. The audience votes on a different ending each night, so the actors never know whodunnit until the audience decides!

Broadway Training Center of Westchester to Present “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” March 31-April 2 in Hastings-on-Hudson

Local Production Will Feature BTC’s  Award-Winning Senior Ensemble, an invite-only performance program for students grades 9-12, from throughout Westchester.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY – Broadway Training Center of Westchester (BTC), one of the region's premier performing arts schools, will present “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” March 31 through April 2 at Hastings High School in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y. The show will feature BTC’s award-winning Senior Ensemble consisting of advanced students (grades 9-12) from throughout Westchester.

Rupert Holmes’ musical creation The Mystery of Edwin Drood won Broadway’s highest honor, the Tony Award for Best Musical, and had a critically-acclaimed Broadway revival in 2012-2013. For Edwin Drood, Holmes was the first person in theatrical history to solely win Tony awards for Best Music, Best Lyrics, and Best Book of a Musical. The original Broadway production was produced by the New York Shakespeare Festival, Joseph Papp, producer. Matt Windman of am New York touted it as “One of the most inventive, inspired and rousing musicals ever devised.”

Charles Dickens died while writing his final novel, leaving behind not a clue of how to solve The Mystery of Edwin Drood.  A play within a play, this hilarious and high-spirited show has the audience choose the ending!  The Detective, Murderer, and Lovers are voted on at every performance, making each show unique. Come multiple times to see the different ways this mystery can play out.  It’s an adventure for the cast and audience alike! Frank Rich, The New York Time,  said, “Spontaneous fun... the company and audience become united, as intended, in the joy of theatrical invention.”

With a faculty and production team of working professionals who have performed on Broadway and other top venues, BTC is well known for its high-quality productions and high-impact youth education work. The performance program, Ensemble, is BTC’s most intensive offering. It requires a rigorous rehearsal schedule, plus a yearlong commitment to technique courses in two of the three core disciplines of acting, dance, or voice.   The program is by Entrance Interview and Placement Audition, functioning as conservatory-style training in the most nurturing and professional environment.

For fifteen consecutive years, the school and its students have won over 90 National Youth Arts Awards, including Outstanding Ensemble! In addition, Westchester Magazine has lauded "BTC theater classes as the best in Southern Westchester." Westchester Family has named it "Best Children's Theater Company," and BroadwayWorld dubbed BTC the "Best Dance Studio of The Decade!"
