The community altar, or ofrenda, will be on view from Friday, November 1, through Sunday, November 3 during regular museum hours. In addition to the Cempasúchils, you are invited to place pictures of your departed loved ones. We recommend bringing copies of the pictures instead of originals. If you are unable to do so in person, you may email a photo to Pedro Betanzos at pbetanzos@hrm.org.
About Día de Muertos
Day of the Dead, or Día de Muertos, is celebrated on November 1 and 2 in the southern regions of Mexico. November 1 is generally referred to as Día de los Inocentes, or Day of the Innocents, to honor the souls of departed children and infants. November 2nd is Día de Todos Santos, or All Souls Day, when families go to the cemetery to decorate the graves and tombs of their relatives.
