Once upon a time in a zoo not so far away, there was a day for all children to dress up like their favorite storybook characters! On Saturday, September 11th, the Zoo will turn into a magical land, with a day full of fun activities, including princesses, story time at multiple locations on grounds, facepainting, glitter tattoos, bubbles, and animal presentations! The day of fun and fantasy is sponsored by the Connecticut Children’s Pediatric Care Alliance with Hartford HealthCare. The organization will also offer COVID-19 vaccinations in the Zoo’s Hanson Building from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for people 12 and older.
Seven different costumed storybook characters will be on Zoo grounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including Cinderella, Spiderman, The Black Panther, Daniel Tiger, Jasmine, Moana, and Mulan. Fine artist Johanne Mangi along with several other artists will be sketching animals in the Zoo’s New England Farmyard, and giving children the sketches to take home.
