First Day Hike - Walkway Over The Hudson
Friends of the Walkway and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation invite everyone to start 2025 on Walkway Over the Hudson and take part in our traditional First Day Hike on January 1! First Day Hike is free to attend and no registration required. It’s fun for all ages.

Come see the amazing views of the Hudson Valley from 212 feet above the Hudson River. Two hike distances offered – a short walk to the flagpole (approximately 3/4th of a mile one way) and a longer walk on a modified 360-degree loop trail. The loop trail is approximately 3.0 miles. For the extended walk, participants will travel along the Walkway, down the elevator, along the Hudson River, over the Mid Hudson Bridge and back to the park via Haviland Road.
Leashed pets are welcome on the Walkway, but, unfortunately, are not allowed on the Mid-Hudson Bridge and therefore cannot join the loop hike.
