Frederick Farm is home and sanctuary to multiple breeds of goats that we love sharing with guests to promote empathy and understanding of the species, and to encourage the happiness and well-being of both the goats and the humans that meet them! Hands-on meet and greets, hikes and virtual experiences are available by reservation and on request.

Frederick Farm has been home to rescue goats since 2013. To us, rescuing and adopting an animal is a lifetime commitment that includes providing the very best life possible to the goats who call Frederick Farm "home".  We recognize each as a distinct personality, worthy of our empathy, respect and care. We are committed to providing a loving home and sanctuary to as many goats in need of rescue as we can.

At the same time, we are also committed to sharing these unique creatures with the public. Our goals include promoting empathy for, and the understanding of, the species; while also encouraging the happiness and well-being of both goats and the humans that meet them, using principles inherent in animal-assisted therapy.

Since 2019, Frederick Farm Goat Rescue and Sanctuary has been open to the public, offering several unique experiences where guests connect with both our charismatic goats and the beauty of their natural surroundings in the Catskill mountains. Visitors get to meet each goat, learn about their breed, behaviors and rescue story - all while they hike on our marked trails, create an original painting, or snuggle them while they munch on natural treats. Our motto, proven true time and again,  is “Everything is better with GOATS!”

Watching the goats in a natural habitat and bonding with them is truly magical, which is why research has shown that interactions with animals have a direct impact on brain chemistry - giving boosts of oxytocin, endorphins and dopamine that are linked to our overall happiness and sense of well-being, while also lowering cortisol, which is linked to stress. Our guests leave euphoric and enamored with the goats because of this, but also due in part to the uniqueness and high quality of the experience, which has earned over 2,600 collective 5-star reviews on Airbnb, Google and Yelp from the experiences provided to the public.
