Experimental Map-Making and International Slow Art Day
What if you could suddenly see everything from a bird’s eye view? What spaces would you explore? What would your house, neighborhood, or town look like? How about the White House, or a volcano? Join us for an afternoon of experimental map-making where we’ll imagine how places we’ve never seen would look from above. PLUS: get a close-up look of remote-control unmanned aerial vehicles (aka drones) in a live-demo by Sam Zeloof and Liam Hanna of Flying Squirrel Multirotors! Sam and Liam will talk to participants about how they became interested in R/C flight, are inspired by the arts, and how as current high-school students, they founded their own company to research, design and produce aerial vehicles.
April 9 is International Slow Art Day! Museum visitors are invited to participate by choosing five works of art in the galleries and spending ten minutes looking at each one. Then, strike up a conversation with a docent or fellow museum-goer. That's it! Simple by design, the goal is to focus on the works of art and the art of seeing.
