Porter's Center for Global Leadership (PCGL)

Porter's Center for Global Leadership (PCGL) is an auxiliary arm of Miss Porter's School. PCGL provides middle and high school girls the tools they need to be empowered to learn, to collaborate, to lead, and to create innovative solutions to pressing global issues. With the tools acquired from our educational leadership programs, you will gain the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to be a catalyst for global change.
Our mission is to create more equitable access to innovative learning experiences for girls and women that build connections, address global issues, and inspire change.
PCGL offers a variety of online and in-person opportunities for girls looking to expand their horizons in an environment built just for them. Some of our most popular programs include:
ChangeMaker's Institute
This virtual, extracurricular program provides opportunities for high school girls to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be effective catalysts for change in their communities and beyond. If you strive to create a more just and equitable future, then let us help you transform
this passion into action. Students who participate walk away with a new found confidence in themselves and in their ability to spark positive change in their communities. You will become part of and continue to have access to an incredible network of peers, mentors, and expert changemakers from around the world. After the successful completion of a four-course, 18-month program, students will recieve the PCGL ChangeMaker’s Institute Certificate.
Global Seminar Series
This virtual program provides an opportunity for high school girls globally to connect, learn, and collaborate as they address relevant pressing global issues. The Global Seminar Series prepares students to become informed and empowered to take action by exploring one global issue through an interdisciplinary lens, interacting with experts in various professions, and participating in collaborative group projects.
Global Summit
This summer program is a partnership with the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, who host the Global Summit on their campus in South Africa. It combines personal background, research findings, problem-solving approaches, expert consultation, and a focus on women’s leadership to help young women build an understanding of themselves as catalysts for global change. You will hone the research, networking, and presentation strategies that play to your strengths, working individually and in collaboration with others. By the end of the program, you will develop an action plan including a pitch for change that you can take back to your community.
