Maria Montessori
Both in philosophy and pedagogy, our program is based on the scientific research of Dr. Maria Montessori, our AMI Montessori training and the tenets of universal human development. Dr. Montessori provided the inspiration and our model. We refer to her vision and teachings at all times.Classrooms are designed for mixed ages, allowing for both individual and social development. There is much space for movement, with work areas throughout the rooms and materials openly displayed and available on accessible shelving. These environments empower students to become proactive participants in their learning.
Most lessons are given to small groups or indiviudal children. Montessori pedagogy and practice includes the use of Montessori materials, charts, timelines, treasures and artifacts from the wealth of cultures around the world and the great outdoors. Our curriculum is broad-based and interdisciplinary.
