The SM&NC is a place for families.

Seasonal fun awaits you at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. Bring friends and enjoy a picnic on the Meadow, walk over 80 acres of nature trails, drop in to the Heckscher Farm and say hello to the animals, and bring the whole group to the amazing exhibition in the Stamford Museum Galleries.

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center is an excellent educational resource for schools and groups. Our four foci-- nature, agriculture, astronomy and art-- allow for an extensive variety of educational options. Our varied site creates an unparalled experience for your field trip! Our programs are hands-on, interactive, relevant and fun! All programs are correlated to state standards and curricula can be adapted to fit specific needs.

Our Mission

Art, Nature & Me at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center inspires creativity, promotes self discovery, and nurtures an appreciation for lifelong learning. Our staff supports a child's sense of wonder and natural curiosity by providing hands-on experiences in our classrooms as well as outdoors in the natural world.

Summer Camp Programs

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center seeks to inspire creativity, foster self-discovery, promote environmental stewardship, and nurture an appreciation for lifelong learning. Our summer camp program and Environmental Education team support this by providing exciting and engaging interactive experiences both in our classrooms and in the natural world. Each of our signature programs is led by an experienced SM&NC Environmental Educator or Preschool Teacher.

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center provides a summer full of action-packed, hands-on fun, exploration, and discovery on its 118-acre facility in North Stamford, just north of the Merritt Parkway, Exit 35. Originally the summer estate of department store founder Henri Bendel, today the site offers a rich array of attractions: an educational farm, nature center, live animal exhibit, observatory with research telescope, planetarium, art galleries, preschool, classrooms, picnic areas, and an 80-acre hardwood forest laced with scenic hiking trails.
