Our Mission

Art, Nature & Me at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center inspires creativity, promotes self discovery, and nurtures an appreciation for lifelong learning. Our staff supports a child's sense of wonder and natural curiosity by providing hands-on experiences in our classrooms as well as outdoors in the natural world.

Our Philosophy

We believe all children are unique and capable learners.

We believe that parents are the primary educators.

We believe that home/school communication is of utmost importance.

We believe in the importance of instilling a lifelong passion for being stewards of the earth.

We believe that learning can take place both indoors and outdoors.

We believe in the importance of having children explore outdoors.

We believe in keeping current with knowledge in the field of early childhood education.

We provide learning opportunities for children to learn in their own learning style.

Summer Camp Programs

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center seeks to inspire creativity, foster self-discovery, promote environmental stewardship, and nurture an appreciation for lifelong learning. Our summer camp program and Environmental Education team support this by providing exciting and engaging interactive experiences both in our classrooms and in the natural world. Each of our signature programs is led by an experienced SM&NC Environmental Educator or Preschool Teacher.

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center provides a summer full of action-packed, hands-on fun, exploration, and discovery on its 118-acre facility in North Stamford, just north of the Merritt Parkway, Exit 35. Need a space for your child to complete their digital learning? The SM&NC will have education staff-led, socially distanced classroom space for a small group of students to complete their daily online school work. In the morning, students will log on (depending on the schedule for their school) and complete assignments with some breaks for activity and a snack (student-provided). We’ll have a break for lunch and some time for free play. In the afternoon, students can have additional time for work if needed, or we’ll head outside for a hike on the trails, hang out with the animals, or participate in science and nature-based programs with SM&NC staff. The classroom will be in the Farmhouse whenever possible. If additional space is required, we may split the group (with two staff) to allow for proper distancing. Classroom will be led by a professional educator and supplemented by other SM&NC education staff. Limited enrollment available. Parents will be required to provide information on school plans and curricula, as well as participate in daily health screening questions. Students must provide their own tech.
