Transitional Foster Care Informational Meeting

Short term - temporary foster care for unaccompanied minors coming from Central America. Short stay - Long Impact

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

By becoming a caregiver for unaccompanied children, you wrap your arms around a child who has been caught up in circumstances beyond their control.  Bethany serves these children for the same reason we do everything: We believe every child, no matter their background or story or national origin, deserves to be safe, loved, and connected. We serve them through foster care because we believe a family is always the best place for a child. If an immigrant child or teen is separated from their family, the best temporary place for them is a safe and loving home.

One BIG thing to know about this program is that we provide in-person therapeutic, educational, medical, and case management services to each child weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Foster families are required to transport children in their care to this location each day M-F, which is why we recommend foster parents live within about 30-45 minutes of either of our program locations.  We know this is a big commitment so let us know if you have questions about that, our program is built around foster families supporting one another so the more licensed families, the more support!

Transitional Foster Care families must meet the same licensing standards and requirements as domestic foster care in the state of North Carolina. This is a 30-hour training course, with some additional hours of training for this population. It will take approximately 90 days to be licensed as a TFC family. Making the decision to become a foster parent is a big decision!

If you are READY to take the next step and this is something you are interested in learning more about, our (virtual) information meetings are the 2nd Monday of every month at 6pm, and the last Wednesday of every month at noon. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about transitional foster care. Please register with the link below.

When you become a foster parent, you give a child a loving home and the stability they need as we work toward reunification. Fostering is not easy, but we will be there to support you—every step of the way. Wherever you are in this, we would love nothing more than to partner with you.
