About Beth El Day Camp

Monday, June 29- Friday, August 14
We are open on Friday, July 3rd

Give your children the gift of camp by sending them to Beth El Day Camp this summer!

Our camp is intimate enough not to overwhelm our youngest campers and our programming is diverse enough to engage the interest of campers up to age 12. Our campers enjoy the many activities we offer but at a skill level appropriate for their age group.

The Beth El Day Camp staff is committed to helping your campers grow and learn by facilitating their participation in daily activities which emphasize fun, friendship, safety, Jewish culture and appreciation of nature. We are very mindful of the environment around us and practice composting.

We adapt to the needs of our campers as they grow up. Our staff is trained to respect all individuals of varying abilities, cultures, genders, races and religions. From the time that you drop your campers off at Beth El Day Camp, you can rest assured that they are in an emotionally and physically safe environment that is dedicated to engaging children in a way that is conducive to developmental growth, independence, and maturity.

Our Mission

Beth El Day Camp provides a joyous, safe, and nurturing summer experience for children of all genders, races, and religious identities. Guided by Jewish values, we strive to enrich the lives of our campers and staff each and every day. We believe that a child’s growth is a process involving physical, mental, emotional, and social development. Through diverse programming, we create opportunities for our campers to develop creativity, positive self-esteem, respect for self, others, and the environment.

Extended Day Program

Our extended day program happily provides care, activities and healthy snacks for children who need to arrive early and stay late. Our team is made up of amazing counselors who provide a safe and fun-filled environment.

From 7:30am, counselors greet children and play games until the camp day begins. At the end of our final dismissal, the children who stay late join the After Care Counselors who serve a delicious and nutritious snack and enjoy varying afternoon activities before pick up.

Health & Safety

Nurse at Camp

A full-time registered nurse is on duty at camp to handle minor injuries and dispense medication. If your camper becomes ill or injured during the camp day we will contact you. If your camper is home due to illness, please contact the camp office to let us know at 914.235.2700 x256. We especially need to know as soon as possible whether your camper was seen by your pediatrician and is considered contagious.

Please call when your camper is sick. Be aware that a child may only return to camp after being fever free or on antibiotics for 24 hours. If your camper continues to have a cough, and your pediatrician feels that they are not contagious, they may return to camp with a doctor’s note. Please notify us of any new rashes as well.

Swim + Sun Safety

We have a multifaceted approach to swim safety:

1. Swim Ability: Each camper is evaluated for swimming at the beginning of camp and given a colored wristband that indicates their swimming level. The shallow end of our pool starts at 1.5 feet, and campers can only progress to deeper areas once they pass our swim challenges.

2. Lifeguard Supervision: All of our lifeguards are American Red Cross Certified, and we maintain a low camper-to-lifeguard ratio to ensure quality supervision.

3. Additional Levels of Supervision: In addition to low camper-to-lifeguard ratios, we require all camp counselors to go in the pool with campers. This not only enhances swim safety but also supports skill development. To further promote safety, we implement a buddy system, teaching campers to look out for one another.

All children must bring a container of labeled sunscreen to be left at Beth El. We accept sunscreen that comes in a tube or bottle ONLY. Apply sunscreen to your camper every morning before camp. Staff will re-apply throughout the day as needed using only your camper’s sunscreen, sunscreen is not shared.
