Join us for an unforgettable workshop where creativity meets community change!

Through hands-on activities, collaborative problem-solving, and immersive design challenges, middle school girls will discover the importance of connection as they examine the composition of urban spaces and make new friends! Participants will grapple with the connection between a thoughtfully designed city and the well-being of the people living in it, learning how city planning can shape a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone – especially girls and women. Together, we will explore questions like:

  • How do we benefit from being in community?
  • How can cities better serve everyone who lives there?
  • What happens when girls design the future of their dreams?

Girls will develop their creative and problem-solving skills through identifying and mapping the assets their communities offer. They will collaborate to engineer innovative solutions for how they can be conveniently connected and tackle obstacles, particularly looking to close specific, gender-based gaps.

Participants will:

  • Make new friends who share a passion for making a difference
  • Explore real-world city design challenges through games, scavenger hunts and collaborative activities
  • Use our Porter’s iLab to create 3D models of their dream cities of the future, centering resource accessibility, gender inclusivity, and environmental sustainability
  • Learn by doing while having fun, learning how to address problems and making change!

At the end of the day, girls will have a strong understanding of the resources that well-served communities need and they will feel empowered to engineer a future that will make it a reality.

This isn’t just a workshop – this is a launchpad for bold ideas, new friendships, and the belief that girls can shape the future. Whether your child loves art, engineering, activism, or building cool things, this program will ignite their imagination and give them the confidence to use their voice.
